yarned over!!!

In my previous post i have introduced to u one of my favourite hang outs places the Hobby-Lobby. On one of our strolls, my mother-in-law wanted to check out the "wool" section..

Other than the knitting i did (after much swearing), during my S.U.P.W periods in school, i never even used to think abt it..(Some Useful Periods Wasted is wat we called them..N i don't remember the correct expansion for the Acronym ;-))

However, this is wat elders say..life changes.. N here i was staring at different colors n shapes n prices of yarn!!!I must say the collection was humongous!!! N to add to it there was an after winter clearance sale.. N so many ladies were flocking around.. N among them was one lady who looked very kind and sweet n gave us a polite smile.. I was simply lingering around feeling the soft mass of fabric n admiring the color combinations n glancing at the design patterns in display.. After we had made our selection of colors n texture n all, we moved on to buy crotchet needles..they were also displayed in various size n colors n each labelled with codes n numbers..(All Greek n Latin to me!! now Spanish too ;-)) Now came the million dollar question.. which size to buy?? that's when we thought of approaching our gentle old lady who was still roaming around..
handmaiden.ca/images/intro_yarn.jpg

She was more than willing to help us.. Not only did she tell us the basics of crotchet, she also lead us to a shelf full of delicious looking (pl don't mind my adjectives.. sumthings happened to me today) yarns on sale for a mere 99 cents!! Now these looked really tempting and that's when a teeny weeny wish sprouted in my mind.. Y not learn to knit?? The cause for this noble thought to arise is that the kinda yarn on sale was just perfect for the kinda scarf that i had been wishing for ;-)

Not only that our sweet old lady showed us her cart full of knitting yarns n the half finished scarf she was working on.. n it looked really pretty...A girl as i am, the need for a pretty scarf just made me plunge out from all my laziness n now i have learnt single n double crotchet.. N next winter if i am still around, (or rather u r still visiting my page)u can hear abt the new white scarf that I've knitted :-)

Sounds like you have a new hobby! I'm afraid I have never had much of an interest in knitting or sewing or related past times. I much prefer my camera! :-) Variety is the spice of life though and it's great that you have something you enjoy!

Diya, you've inspired me to take up a new hobby too! I think it's amazing you were able to learn double crochet so quickly, good on you! I love the colours of the yarn, they're beautiful! And, I am not going anywhere, so post the pictures of your scarf as soon as you are able! :)
